Once a Loser, Always a Loser
Well folks, the truth about reality TV is this…IT’s NOT REALITY!!!! I was one of the original contestants on NBC’s hit show “The Biggest Loser” and being an African-American woman, I was able to impact the lives of the people within my community in a very positive way. On the show I was called The Rock for my strength, perseverance, and my ability to nurture and help others.
As all the recent stories surface about whether or not the show is successful, whether or not the show actually is dangerous for contestants, or that the contestants gain back their weight; I have something to say…..WAKE UP PEOPLE IT IS TV… FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY!!!! Oh and you (contestants) get out of it what you want.
Is it easy – no. Was it fun – no. What is easy and fun is being able to feel confident and empowered with one’s self. Being able to buy a sexy black dress and look damn good in it!!!
Yes we worked out for hours a day and no, it is impossible to repeat the kind of workouts done at the ranch at home. However, the accountability is on me to continue habits and lifestyles learned in order to maintain the confident empowered me. Am I still a hard bodied 151 pounds, NO! I have gained weight, and lost and gained again. But am I back to my staring 215 pounds, absolutely not. Losing weight and maintaining it is a roller coaster. Why, because life is a roller coaster. Full of ups, downs, twists, and turns; and we have to hang on tight for the ride whether or not we are prepared for it.
But today that all stops as I share my journey back to the reality of daily workouts, and healthy meal planning, the day-to-day battles, the successes, and the triumph of feeling 100% me again.
ENJOY…
